United States baptism stats 1969-2015
by the comet inwhenever the new yearbooks come out, we all look at the figures and see the publisher increase never really matches up with the baptism figures.
it never should match up as all newly baptized ones are already publishers, and may have been for many years.
i, as an example, became an unbaptized publisher at age 11. i didn't get baptized until i was 17. .

Why didn't I factor in the death rate? The simple answer is, I don't really know how to. In 1975 83,000 were baptized. i would have to factor in the death rate for 40 years. But then as time went by the death rate would be higher and higher as they got older. I just don't know how to go about doing that. -

What i wanted to do was add up all the baptism figures for the u.s in the last 70 years and see what that number would come out to. The first problem i ran into was, i couldn't find the baptism figures in the yearbooks pre the 1970 yearbook. So i started there. I went ahead and added Alaska and Hawaii to the u.s. figures, Alaska stopped reporting separate from the u.s. in the 2008 yearbook, and Hawaii in 2012.

grand total-----1,794,385 (check my math, I probably made a calculation error)
so in the 1970 yearbook the u.s. had 343,673 avg publishers, again no idea how many are unbaptized versus baptized. 2016 avg publisher count is1,195,081. Without figuring in death rates you have well over 500,000 people missing. My next project is, how many foreign language publishers and cong. are there in the u.s.

Watchtower financial yearbook statements 1989-2016
by the comet insince the 2016 yearbook yearbook was released i've been tearing through the numbers, trying to figure a few things out.
i have several different projects i'm working on, and this is one of them.
i looked through all the yearbooks from the 1989 one through 2016, the only thing they really state about money is how much they spent on; special pioneers, missionaries, and traveling overseers.

Since the 2016 yearbook yearbook was released I've been tearing through the numbers, trying to figure a few things out. I have several different projects I'm working on, and this is one of them. I looked through all the yearbooks from the 1989 one through 2016, the only thing they really state about money is how much they spent on; special pioneers, missionaries, and traveling overseers. From 2002 and on, at least what i could find, they also say the number of branch workers worldwide.
A few things really stand out to me. The amount of money they're spending seems to be spiraling out of control. In 1989 they spent 29.8 million (remember this figure is just what they spend on special pioneers, missionaries and traveling overseers) adjusted for inflation its about 60 million. The number increases every year, as you would expect it to. If we jump to 2002 its at 70.9 million (96.6 million adjusted for inflation) a 41 million dollar increase. Jump ahead another 13 years, to 2015 its at 224 million or a 153 million dollar increase.
To put things in perspective, In the 1989 yearbook you had an average of 3,430,926 publishers worldwide. The 2016 yearbook had 7,987,279 avg publishers, an increase of 132%. During the same time span their spending increased, adjusted for inflation, 293%.
Looking at this you can really see why they have to downsize the number of special pioneers, the costs are getting out of control. Anyway i found some of this interesting, my next project is looking at total number of baptisms in the united states from 1970 through today, trying to figure out where did all those people go?

Statistics - Spreadsheets - Opinion
by berrygerry inso, spent a fair bit of time on the stats.. the 2010-2015 numbers are available here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0bwv5uvzb3-67axpzavk0m0nttfe&usp=sharing.
also there are spreadsheets of: ratios, peak-pubs, and the best is a combo of ratios, peak pubs & average pubs.. you can play with these by "select all" and "sort" according to your preference.. if you would like any other combination, i would try to create it and post it for you.. of interest:.
as has been noted, the biggest standout of 2015 is the increase of only 18k in peak pubs while having 260k baptized.

the biggest standout of 2015 is the increase of only 18k in Peak Pubs while having 260k baptized.
So that means that (not counting for deaths) 242k JWs have left the religion!
That's fantastic news!!!
Thats is not really true. All people who get baptized are already counted as publishers, correct? So a young person could have been counted as an unbaptized publisher for the last 8 years and just this year get baptized.

Weird...in the section of legal victories they forgot to mention Geoffrey Jackson's masterful Royal commission testimony. Shame, would have loved to read about it. -

Look for Bart Ehrman's books-misquoting Jesus, how Jesus became God and did Jesus exist. I'd also recommend Jerry coyne's books- why evolution is true and faith versus fact -

Leah Remini's book, "Troublemaker"
by DisArmed injust finished leah remini's book, "troublemaker.
" very good book that easily resonates, i'm sure, with anyone who has exited a cult.
her life in scientology and eventual exit was a nightmare.

Finished the book yesterday. Many obvious correlations to jw's. I think it could be a good book to share with mentally in friends/family. Have them read it and it might start a conversation that could lead to someone waking up. -
